Yamaha YBR 125

My father and I are gradually restoring a Yamaha YBR 125. This personal workshop project is ongoing: disassembly, carburettor cleaning, rust treatment and painting parts. The photos show work in progress, not a completed restoration.

The project

Learning by repairing a real machine, step by step.

Every disassembled part raises practical questions: what condition is it in, and should we clean, protect or replace it? We work together and try to understand before putting things back.

In the workshop
01

Inspect

Look at the motorcycle before modifications and identify what needs work.

02

Clean

Disassemble and clean the carburettor and accessible parts.

03

Protect

Prepare selected surfaces and apply rust protection and finish paint.

04

Reassemble

Continue the restoration and check the result along the way.

What I learned

This is also time spent learning with my father: we discuss the diagnosis, handle parts and adjust our approach together.

The restoration is still ongoing. I would rather show documented stages than claim an outcome we have not reached yet.
